People ask me why I like weddings; I have a simple answer: I love HOPE! I look into my couple's eyes and I know how challenging life can be but I see hope and the promise to be there for each other through the many trials and experiences that come our way in this journey called life. Hope is the quality which can keep us on our path, that which will lead us to the higher aspects of our humanity.
And, speaking of hope, September came with the hint of cooler temperatures and the fun of UGA football! And, four wonderful couples came to Stonehurst Farm to share the hope and excitement of making a commitment to each other as they moved forward in life.
On September 1st, Jennifer and Thomas came to Stonehurst Farm to honor their hope to spend the rest of their lives together. They have been together fourteen years, live and work in the the Jefferson area. I enjoyed meeting them and being a part of their special day.
Suddenly, it was after Labor Day! Daylight was noticebly becoming less; temperatures were still in the upper 80's, low 90's. The drought continued. But, love is everywhere and this wonderful couple came to Stonehurst Farm to get married while on their way to the groom's assignment with the US Navy in Norfolk. Javonte and Bria met two years ago while on the job in the health care field in the Winder area; their love grew and the time for commitment came after Javonte joined the navy. This couple is precious and I wish for them joy and a peaceful world in their service to the country.
This next couple moved to Georgia from the Bay area of California; London first contacted me in August about performing the ceremony for the two of them. I forwarded to her a selection of readings and vows and ring exchanges to peruse and consider for the nuptials. She then decided I should be the one to create the couple's Sept. 14th ceremony! London was formerly with our military while her partner is in the healthcare field. I do hope they will be happy in Georgia and that their partnership will carry them forward as they make their way in life.
On September 16th, this couple, along with family members, came to Stonehurst Farm to have their wedding. Philizaire and Brittany have been together for several years and felt the time was right for them to say their "I do's" I so enjoyed meeting their families, especially those who came all the way up from Florida to participate in their special day.
